Horizon Yachts would like to extend our sincere congratulations to Doug and Lecia Pritchett of Quinlan, Texas and Dale and Erin Robbins of Opelika, Alabama as champions of the 2016 Horizon NCHA Senior World Tour! Mr. Robbins won the Open/Novice class with 122 points, while Mr. Prichett won the Non-Pro classes with a total of 128 points. As champions, the Pritchetts and Robbins have each been awarded an expenses-paid trip to the 2017 Horizon Yachts Owner Rendezvous, which will take place this April at the Abaco Beach Resort in Marsh Harbor, Bahamas.

The Horizon Senior Tour was launched in 2015 as part of the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA) championship shows; this worldwide show allows riders 60 years and older, and who meet all other NCHA rules regarding eligibility, status and membership, to compete and become champions in this sector of the cutting horse sport. Cultivated by Horizon E98 yacht owner and NCHA member Jo Ellard, the Horizon Senior Tour allows senior riders to compete within their classes while also becoming passionate about another exciting lifestyle – boating!

Horizon Yachts also recently attended the culmination of the NCHA championship shows, the 2016 Futurity, from December 9th and 10th in Fort Worth, Texas. Always a nail-biting event, the Friday semi-finals and Saturday finals showcased amazing riders and cutting horses – but it always comes down to one! One of the last riders in the championship, Matt Gaines on Second Spot brought down the arena with cheers and whistles on a 229-point run, winning the Futurity and earning $225,395 in the process! According to the NCHA, “Gaines career earnings of more than $7,890,000 positions him to become the sport’s second $8 million rider next year.” Additionally, his 229-point score is tied for the second highest in Futurity history!

Horizon looks forward to another fantastic year as sponsors of NCHA and the Horizon Senior Tour; we are also excited to have the Pritchetts and the Robbins join us in celebrating their achievements and our owners in the Bahamas, with Goombay Smashes all around!
