History
Horizon Yacht, the parent company of Horizon Group, was co-founded in 1987 by CEO John Lu, Mr. Gong Shan Chiai, and Mr. Cheng Shun Hui in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. A naval architect by training, Lu’s mission was clear and remains unchanged to this day: To build the ultimate dream yachts for his clients. Through the years, Lu has proved himself a visionary in the yachting industry, from applying specialized processes to solve production scale challenges to growing and redeveloping Horizon’s facilities to each focus on its own specializations. Lu has continuously re-invested into the shipyards to improve efficiency and product quality as well as increase the capacity and range of yachts built. The Horizon Group was formed as the cohesive organization that interconnects all four shipyards—Horizon Yacht, Atech Composites, Vision Yachts and Premier Yacht—to allow for the exchange of ideas and resources. More recently, Lu added a fifth company into the fold: the Horizon City Marina, the first Global Gold Anchor Scheme accredited facility that provides yacht management and concierge in Taiwan. A leading luxury yacht brand in the global market, Horizon is known throughout the industry for its sophisticated craftsmanship, superior build techniques, and innovative technology. The Group has been honored with numerous builder and yacht model awards and is the first and only member of SYBAss (Superyacht Builder's Association) from the Far East.
