Despite less-than-ideal weather conditions, the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show welcomed over 44,000 visitors, and the Horizon Yacht Australia (HYAUS) display was bustling with guests eager to tour the new FD75 Open Bridge, FD80 Skyline and FD90 Skyline yachts. The caliber of visitors and consistency of repeat clients touring the yachts was but one testament to the presence that HYAUS now enjoys in the market - the other being the record number of Horizon yachts sold in the region in the last year.

Taking its place at the entrance of the series known for its unparalleled volume, innovative functionality and intelligent layout, the FD75 Open Bridge on display was customized to suit her Australian owners. With a voluminous interior that spans a 20’ 4” beam, this yacht features a three-stateroom layout comprised of a full-beam master stateroom forward, a full-beam VIP amidships and a convertible twin cabin to port. A spacious laundry room is situated in the guest foyer and a beach club with a lounge area and dayhead rounds out the plentiful deck areas of this impressive yacht.

The new FD80 Skyline quickly became a crowd favorite during the show, with guests remarking on the bright, ultra-modern interior and unparalleled volume that can only be found in the FD Series. Horizon’s in-house design center describes the yacht’s interior design concept as “charcoal in snow”, where modern, hi-tech materials - such as a backlit silver metallic wall feature - create accents reminiscent of a silver sky, clouds and snowflakes, and a floating lighting design mimics the warm glow from candles or a fireplace. Image 5754: 4161

Rounding out the showcase, the incredibly spacious FD90 Skyline was appreciated for its contemporary interior, four-stateroom layout and inviting deck areas. Satin walnut, black glass and black lacquer finishes highlight the FD90’s loft-like main salon, whose volume is amplified by floor-to-ceiling windows and comfortable, custom low-profile furniture. Sliding glass doors accessing the walkaround decks to port and starboard invite the outdoors into the dining area forward, and the fully-equipped galley can be open to the salon and dining area or closed via doors and a privacy screen. This is also the first FD Series yacht to be equipped with the JUNG automation system, which allows the custom lighting, window treatments, audio and A/C to be easily controlled via phone or iPad devices.

“It is clear that the Horizon FD Series answers the market’s demand for style, space and performance that traditional motor yachts can not accommodate,” says Horizon Yacht Australia director Mark Western. “The FD yachts were definitely the talk of the show, with guests comparing the interior space of these yachts to that of 100ft+ superyachts."

The Horizon Yacht Australia team capped off the show by hosting their annual Horizon Owners’ dinner and this year added an Inaugural Ladies’ Luncheon that will surely be a highly anticipated event for future shows. Following the show, the team is working on custom new builds and reports serious interest in the FD80 Skyline.
