Horizon Yachts is excited to announce the champions of the 2017 Horizon Senior Tour, a special NCHA sector of the cutting horse sport for riders 60 years and older. Mr. Joe Dakan of West Virginia won first place, and Mr. Roy Bauer, also of West Virginia, won second place. Each winner has been awarded an expenses-paid trip to the 2018 Horizon Yachts Owner Rendezvous in Newport, RI. We are very excited to host them at the rendezvous and provide a taste of the yachting lifestyle to these champions!
Horizon Yacht USA attended the 2017 NCHA Futurity – the culmination of the entire year’s efforts for competitors in the sport – this past December in Fort Worth, Texas. As always, the Futurity is an amazing showcase of talented riders and highly trained horses, but there is only room for a few champions at the top. This year, the Futurity victor was Austin Shepard on horse Dual Reyish; his 228-point run earned $192,672 and this was Shepard’s second NCHA win. Lee Francois, on horse The Animal, won second place with 225.5 points and earning $169,404. The Animal has a tie to Horizon Yachts – he’s brother to famous champion horse Cat Ichi, and both were bred by EE ranches – owned by Jo Ellard, who is also the proud owner of the Horizon E98 motoryacht “Do It Now!”
Horizon extends our sincere congratulations to Mr. Joe Dakan and Mr. Roy Bauer, champions of the 2017 Horizon NCHA Senior Tour, as well as the winners of the 2017 Futurity event! We are proud to continue our sponsorship of the NCHA and Horizon Senior Tour into 2018 – we wish everyone competing a fun and successful year in the cutting horse sport!
