Horizon Yachts is pleased to announce that hull five of the new FD85 motor yacht series is under contract with a repeat owner from The Netherlands. The first model of the new Fast Displacement (FD) series, the FD85 made its debut at the 2016 Taiwan International Boat Show to much acclaim, with owners from Japan, the United States and Europe snapping up the first four hulls in less than one year. Hull five of the FD85 will deliver to her owner in early 2018.

This latest build will be the second Horizon yacht for the client, a Dutch entrepreneur who was attracted to the FD85’s unique design when he visited the yacht during the Taiwan Show. An experienced yachtsman, the client specified several customizations to take advantage of the yacht’s 23’ 3” beam and five-stateroom layout, including two VIP suites and two personalized guest staterooms to accommodate his grandchildren. On the aft deck, the owner and his wife specified a combination settee and dining table. On the spacious flybridge, the owners increased the size of the bar and added more bar seating as well as a custom section to the hard top that can be opened for sunbathing.

A collaboration between Dutch designer Cor D. Rover and Horizon’s in-house naval architecture team, the FD85’s striking exterior styling is matched by a voluminous interior boasting floor-to-ceiling windows. Twin CAT C18 1136HP engines and Horizon’s new High Performance Piercing Bow (HPPB) design allow this mini superyacht to achieve versatile and efficient cruising speeds between 10 and 16 knots.

The interest in the Fast Displacement series from new and repeat Horizon clients is testament to the yard’s focus on innovation, says Horizon CEO John Lu. “Yacht owners and media around the world were immediately captured by the release of our new Fast Displacement series,” he says. “This has proven that our commitment to the market is more than design concepts and paperwork. Our yachts are developed with an emphasis on innovation in response to market research to ensure we exceed the needs of all owners.”

Hull two of the FD85 series is expected to be completed by the end of June and will be showcased at the Cannes Boat Show in September, while hull three is scheduled to appear at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in November 2017.
