The sale marks the 20th FD Series yacht sold worldwide in less than three years
The enthusiasm for Horizon’s Fast Displacement Series of motor yachts continues to build, as evidenced by the recent sale of the 20th FD Series motor yacht. This latest yacht – FD87 Hull 16 – was sold to an American client in a deal brokered in conjunction with Tony Plaia of Horizon Preferred Partner Great Southern Yacht Company.
The new FD87 is the first Horizon yacht for the experienced boater, who has already added his personal customization to the yacht’s layout. The voluminous Cor D. Rover-designed FD87 will feature an enclosed skylounge with a smaller footprint than other FD Series Skyline yachts, so as to accommodate a larger exterior boat deck and indoor/outdoor entertaining area. The al fresco space remains protected by side glass and will be fitted with a U-shaped dinette, a large bar and loose lounge seating served by a Hi/Lo BBQ grill and chest freezer. On the forward deck, a large U-shaped settee faces two cocktail tables and a large sunpad seats three. This area also offers refrigeration and an icemaker for added convenience.
Guests of the new FD87 are accommodated within five spacious staterooms, including a full-beam, on-deck master stateroom in which the owners have specified a full-beam his-and-hers ensuite. Crew quarters are situated aft of the engine room, next to the fully equipped beach club with a Hi/Lo swim platform.
On the main deck, a wide aft deck lounging area leads into the main salon, which maximizes the yacht’s 23’ beam and full-height windows. A dining table comprises the interior dining space that accesses the portside galley.
Powered by twin C32 CAT diesels of 1,600hp each, the latest FD87 is expected to achieve a maximum speed of 19.5 knots in half load. Currently under construction, the yacht is on schedule to deliver to her new owners in late 2020.
